I’m Joey Payne, a therapist and couples coach who helps partners in established marriages reconnect after years of building a life together. I work with couples who are deeply committed to their relationship but feel the distance that can develop through busy schedules, parenting, and the demands of everyday life.

 

I believe connection doesn’t disappear over time; it becomes buried under assumptions, unmet needs, and the efficiency required to keep life running. My work helps couples move beyond feeling like high-functioning roommates and back toward emotional closeness, partnership, and shared meaning.

 

My approach is grounded in Emotionally Focused Therapy principles and focuses on structure, skill-building, and practical application. Rather than rehashing the past, I help couples strengthen emotional safety and learn how to respond to one another in ways that build trust and connection.
